Holiday Blog: My Fijian holiday (July 2009)

Last week I went to Fiji and I stayed at the Shangri-La. While we were there I went on two tours. The tours I went on were called The Waterfall Tour and the Natadola Magical tour. They were both awesome. The Waterfall Tour was really nice. We got on a bus that went past three hotels to pick up people and then we were on our way; it took us about an hour to get to the river.

Once we had reached the river we got off the bus and put on our life jackets. After that William, Kate and I got on a long boat with our parents. It took us a while to get to the waterfall and on the way we went past lots of other waterfalls. The waterfall was huge and there were steps up to a big pool at the top. After a swim we got back into the boat and went to a Fijian village.

They welcomed us with a Kava ceremony. A Kava ceremony is a welcoming ceremony with the plant kava and water mixed together for people to drink.  Before you receive the bowl you have to clap and after consuming all of the kava you have to clap three times.

We then got to look around the village while the locals prepared for lunch. Soon enough it was time for lunch and, when we had finished, the Fijians brought out their handmade craft. Every thing was so beautiful it was so hard to choose what you wanted. On the way back we chose to go on a raft - it was so cool; nothing could describe that feeling.
