Valentines day, what is known as the day of love. The movie definitely gave the vibe of romance mixed in with so many jokes that it left you in stitches. Directed by Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries) and bursting at the seams with A-list stars it was a typical romantic comedy but with a slight twist.
We look at the lives of several couples on the 14 February, the day of love.
Reed (Ashton Kutcher) proposes to his girlfriend, Morley (Jessica Alba) on the morning of Valentines day who then goes to work as a florist claiming that Valentines day is the busiest day of the year for flowers. Meanwhile his friend Julia, a primary school teacher, (Jennifer Garner) is dating Dr Harrison Copeland (Patrick Dempsey) who is hiding his true relationship status. One of Julia’s students, Edison, is sending flowers to his Valentine while his grandparents Edgar and Estelle (Shirley Maclaine) have come across a secret that has been kept for over 40 years. Edison’s baby-sitter, Grace (Emma Roberts) is planning something special for her boyfriend Alex (Carter Jenkins) while their friends Tyler (Taylor Lautner) and Felicia (Taylor Swift) are blissfully and happily in love. On a plane Kate (Emma Roberts), a U.S army captain, is coming home for one night before going back to her job. Her seat is next to Holden (Bradley Cooper) who has recently become single again. Famous sports star Sean (Eric Dane) is having trouble telling the truth while his publicist Kara (Jessica Beil) is hosting her annual “I hate Valentines day party” but has recently taken a fancy to sports reporter Kelvin (Jamie Foxx) who wants the latest sports scoop from Paula (Queen Latifah). Paula has hired Liz (Anne Hathaway) who has recently started dating Jason (Topher Grace) but is keeping a huge secret from him.
Confusing it may be but like the 2003 movie Love Actually each character has a connection with someone, who knows someone else, who works with someone else and so on.......
This movie was romantic, funny and all in all a good pick to go and see. If you don’t enjoy rom-com’s this definitely isn’t for you but it is a film that will go down in chick-flick history.
